Update on the proposed East Kent merger

Ashford Borough Council announced, on Wednesday 25th January, that it no longer intends to pursue discussions on the proposed creation of a single East Kent district council.   A report indicating this will be formally considered by Ashford’s Cabinet members at its meeting on Thursday 9th February.   Full Council will receive its recommendations on Thursday 16th February, where members of the authority will make the final decision. On a turnout of 33.1%

The summary yes/no vote for the other areas is:

You will have received, or shortly will be receiving, your Ballot Papers from Ashford Borough Council.   To ensure the formation of a Parish/Community Council for North Willesborough

However, a simple “YES” majority vote will not be enough – only an overwhelming “YES” vote will persuade Ashford Borough Council that North Willesborough should have a Parish/Community Council.

Tell your neighbours, friends and family to vote YES today.   Follow this link to download the Poster and put it in your window to remind others.

This opportunity will not arise again for at least 10 years

Open Meeting – 13th May/Quiz Night – 22nd May

Thank you to all who came along to our Hustings meeting last Wednesday – we hope you found it interesting. As I said at the time – DON’T FORGET TO VOTE!

And now some dates for your diary:

The next open meeting will be on the 13th May. Doors will be open from 6.30pm to review our display and meet your (new?) councillors, and the meeting will start at 7.30 with all the usual features. On this occasion we have arranged a talk about the recently formed Ashford Clinical Commissioning Group, to be presented by Dr Navin Kumta, Clinical Chair, and Martin Harvey, Lay Member – Patient and Public Engagement.

Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are NHS organisations set up by the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to organise the delivery of NHS services in England. They are clinically led groups that include all of the GP groups in their geographical area. The aim of this is to give GPs and other clinicians the power to influence commissioning decisions for their patients. Come along to hear about the Ashford CCG and how it will affect YOU.

Update (Finally!)

Apologies to all of you who have been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for….. something.   Yours truly was working in Oslo throughout 2014 and, what with everything else WCF was up to, the website got lavished with neglect.   That is being rectified now, and hopefully, since I’m now based back in England, won’t happen again.

So, some catching up:

  • A full “story so far” on the Community Council Campaign can be found HERE.
  • We now have a Contact page.
  • There is a page about Speedwatch.
  • Open meeting Agendas and Notes can be found HERE.
  • And if you missed our calendar (or just want the pictures) the graphics can be found HERE (pictures) and HERE (calendar grid)

We will be adding more bit by bit but if you have any ideas please contact us on
